Soaking of ceramic tiles is done to make them saturated with water so that they do not absorb water from the cement paste. Hacking of the surface is done to roughen it for proper adhesion.
If ROFF FEVIMATE PA mixed with cement is used for fixing tiles, soaking of ceramic tiles and hacking of wall surface is not required, ROFF FEVIMATE PA a liquid polymer when added to cement improves the properties of ordinary Portland cement like adhesion & water retention in cement paste. Hence the job is faster and requires minimum effort, saving both time and money. ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE, which is a ready to use cementitious tile adhesive, can also be used.

Yes. ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE is an ideal product for 'tile on tile' applications like in your case. It can be used over the existing mosaic tile flooring. Just clean the old surface thoroughly to make it free from oil, grease or any other dust particles using (1:4) further diluted by water mild hydrochloric acid. Clean the existing substrate with plenty of water to remove the acid residue.. Mix the ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE in 3:1 proportion (3 part Powder: 1 Part water) and mix it till a homogeneous mix is obtained. Apply the adhesive on the existing mosaic tiled floor on which the tiles can be fixed with in 10 to 15 mins. Remove the excess material with a notched trowel to get a uniform 3-6 mm thickness. Start fixing the new tiles by pressing and with a slight twisting action. The new floor will be ready to use after 24 hours. No curing is required. ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE can also be used in conjunction with ROFF SUPERCRETE (instead of water) if the existing tiles are other than Mosaic and Kotah, i.e. critical tile on tile applications.

You can use ROFF FEVIMATE PA as a additive to cement or ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE to fix tiles on internal vertical surfaces. However, if the cladding is with heavy stones like granite or marble and on external substrates; then use ROFF STONE TILE ADHESIVE.
ROFF STONE TILE ADHESIVE is a high performance adhesive specially designed for heavy duty applications on external situations. However it is recommended that you use mechanical clamps along with ROFF STONE TILE ADHESIVE.

I have a house in Pune. I am planning to change the flooring of top floor bathroom and waterproof it as well. Does your tile adhesive have waterproofing properties? |
| |
|
 |
Yes. ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE (NSA) is waterproof by nature. NSA can be used directly to fix new tiles over existing ones, as well as directly on the concrete floor slab, in case you plan to remove old tiles.
However ROFF NSA is not a substitute for proper waterproof treatment in the bathroom. It is recommended that for best results, before applying tiles, a proper slope be given to the substrate. Apply two coats of ROFF SUPERCRETE mixed with cement in the proportion of 1:1 by volume as a waterproof coat over the prepared surface. Consult ROFF Product Guide for more details.

We are glad you asked this question. There are two major savings in using ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE. In conventional methods, there is a cost involved in chipping off old tiles in case of “tile-on-tile”, substrate, curing & soaking of the tiles both in floors and walls. Besides being messy, the cost incurred for this procedure can be high, especially when the existing substrate is in poor condition.
On the contrary by using tile adhesive, the cost can be saved in following areas.
Roff Non Skid Adhesive can be laid directly over the cementitious substrate and also eliminate the need of hacking prior to the tile fixing. This saves substantial time and the entire cost of labour for chipping off old tiles & cementitious substrates. The use of Roff Non Skid Adhesive also eliminates the need of soaking & curing of tiles. It eliminates the use of sand, cement and neeroo (hydrated lime) for the bedding in flooring. Tile adhesives also reduces the thick bedding behind tiles in case of cement & thus saving in the cost of materials.

I am a tiling contractor engaged in household tiling jobs. I often get complaints of cracks appearing on dado tiles. How can you help me to overcome this problem? |
| |
|
 |
The problem of cracking of tile surfaces occurs due to:
(a) No gap between the tiles while fixing, in conventional methods (using only cement paste) to accommodate the thermal and physical movements.
(b) Cement has a property to shrink & being a rigid material if cannot absorb thermal or physical movements; which results in development of cracks on the surface. This problem can be tackled effectively by using ROFF FEVIMATE PA. It is a polymer additive for cement for fixing tiles on internal walls and floors. ROFF FEVIMATE PA improves the workability & bond strength of the cement paste and makes it flexible to accommodate thermal & physical movements. The addition of FEVIMATE PA also reduces the shrinkage property of the cement. Tiles fixed with DR. FEVIMATE PA modified cement paste do not require any curing. The ROFF range of tiling products also has ready to use tile fixing adhesives viz. ROFF NON SKID ADHESIVE & STONE TILE ADHESIVE.

I often get a complaint opening up of tile joints, which are filled with ordinary white cement. Does ROFF have a product suitable for such use? |
| |
|
 |
White cement, used to fill the tile joints, normally shrinks, cracks, tends to come out; which results in water seepage through the tile joints. White cement being a rigid material does not accommodate the movements due to thermal and physical causes.
ROFF RAINBOW TILE MATE tile grout is the best product for tile joining. ROFF RAINBOW TILE MATE is flexible in nature; accommodates movements and also does not shrink like white cement. It has a good bond with all types of tiles, thus making joints impermeable to water..

Tiles in my kitchen keep falling. Will this problem occur if I use Roff Tile adhesive? |
| |
|
 |
Cement being rigid material cannot accommodate changes in temperature & looses its adhesive properties which results in the falling of kitchen dado tiles. On the contrary, Roff Tile Adhesives are flexible in nature, can accommodate the movements caused by alternate heating and cooling in kitchen dado areas. In such conditions a paste of cement with ROFF FEVIMATE PA modified cement paste remains stable. Therefore your tiles will not fall off.
